Greeley Tribune Opinion, December 22, 2019: Family farming legacies kept alive in Weld County

“Family farms and ranches are important in many ways.  People with closer ties to the land usually treat it better, with practices that will keep their soil and water healthy for generations to come.

Not all family farms are small of course.  The Greeley area is home to some larger family-operated farms that grow and supply throughout the region.  That’s positive to see as well.

It is reassuring to read about the local farmers profiled in the article who are going to be able to keep their operation in their family.

How positive it is that Weld County farmers are successful in continuing that legacy.  It’s bound to result in a healthier local farm economy and for us being able to consume food that’s raised and harvested right here. While most of us will never know how to farm, we can actively support local farms by selecting their produce when we can.”
